\"Cycling<\/p>\n

During our last newsletter we talked about Germany in general, but also about how close it is to get there from the British Isles. We did not talk about Holland, but our \u201cSpringtime in Holland<\/a>\u201d tour is one of the closest ones to the arrival ports from Britain and therefore ideal for anybody travelling to Europe for the first time. We start the tour in the historic city of Bruges in Belgium, which is only about 70 miles from the Eurotunnel or the ferry port in Calais\u00a0and even closer from other ports like Dunkirk, or Zeebrugge\u00a0and is an easy drive on the motorway. If you prefer a ferry leaving further North, like Harwich or Hull, you could also take the boat to Rotterdam, which would be just over 100 miles to Bruges.<\/p>\n

You might have just winterized your motorhome\u00a0and as the days get shorter and the weather colder, it is the ideal time to start thinking about spring. During our \u201cSpringtime in Holland\u201d tour\u00a0we are in Holland during the perfect time of the year, as the spring flowers are in bloom and the flower parade takes place the weekend before Kingsday, which is the most important bank holiday in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

During the tour we visit first Amsterdam, then the cheese market in Alkmaar before travelling to the bulb growing region, close to the coast, in time for the annual flower parade. We have the opportunity to admire the floats while stationary on the evening before the parade and then to watch the parade on Saturday. On our tour page you can\u00a0watch a video we took during the flower parade<\/a>\u00a0to get an idea about this part of the tour. A further highlight of this tour is a visit to the Keukenhof Gardens<\/a> to see nearly seven million spring-flowering bulbs and to walk through the inspirational gardens. The Keukenhof Gardens are only a short distance from our campsite. By the way the Netherlands are cycling heaven, so do not forget to bring your bikes as everywhere there are plenty of safe cycling lanes, for example to get to the Keukenhof you could cycle through the colourful tulip fields. If you still are not flowered out, you can stop at the world\u2019s largest flower auction in Aalsmeer on our way to Delft!<\/p>\n

We will spend a couple of days in the historic city of Delft and will also be there during \u201cKings Day\u201d. Everything turns orange (Holland\u2019s national colour), and you can walk into town to attend the many local events. On one of the other days go on a short train ride to The Hague, Holland\u2019s capital and home of the Dutch royal family or visit the windmills at the Kinderdijk, a World Heritage Site. We will have a group event in Delft, which is a tile painting workshop at Royal Delft and the tour finishes\u00a0at the coast in Renesse. If you are interested in joining this tour and your motorhome is above 4.5t, please let us know asap, as one campsite only has a few pitches for heavier motorhomes!<\/p>\n
