The Black Forest is more than the home of the cuckoo clock and Black Forest Gateau. It is a region of stunning natural beauty of wooded hills, rolling meadows and charming towns and villages as well as relaxing spas.
Our Tour will take us from the north of the Black Forest to the Alpine foothills in Switzerland. On the way you can visit the German Clock museum and see the world largest cuckoo clock. Enjoy the scenery of Germany’s largest waterfall in Triberg and lakes like Titisee or Schluchsee. A highlight of the Tour is the waterfalls of the Rhine in Schaffhausen, just across the border in Switzerland. We will stay at lake Constance, giving you a chance to visit the flower island of Mainau and the beautiful cities of Konstanz and Lindau with the charming port connecting Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Day 1: Ortenau Wine Region
We will start our tour in the beautiful Ortenau wine region. In the evening we will have a wine tasting and a guided tour of the wine cellar, followed by a group dinner in a nearby restaurant in order to get to know each other
Day 2: Ortenau Wine Region – Dornstetten
On the way to Dornstetten you can take the scenic Black Forest Ridgeway (Schwarzwaldhochstrasse) and visit on route the city of Baden-Baden, a swish spa town. Pass lakes and waterfalls on the way. Close to our campsite you can experience the “barefoot trail”.
Day 3: Dornstetten – Kinzig Valley
On route stop at a monastery beer brewery or walk through the historic town of Schiltach with its many half-timbered houses. Close to the campsite you can visit the last glassworks in the Black Forest that still manufactures mouthblown glass and make your own glass vase.
Day 4: Kinzig Valley
Within a short driving distance from the campsite you can visit the Black Forest Open Air Museum. You can also cycle along the river Kinzig and take the train back to the campsite.
Day 5: St. Kinzig Valley – Kirchzarten/Freiburg
We continue our journey via Furtwangen the centre of the clock making industry in the Black Forest. Visit the German Clock Museum or buy yourself a cuckoo clock in one of the many stores. On route through the scenic valleys there is lots to see but do not miss the famous Triberg waterfalls.
Day 6: Kirchzarten/Freiburg
Visit Freiburg, also known as the sunny city, it is only a short train journey away from our campsite. Enjoy the historic town centre with the beautiful cathedral and small streams and try some of the local delicacies and wine. Or just relax at the campsite in the heart of the Black Forest mountains.
Day 7: Kirchzarten – Titisee
In the morning, visit the bustling market in Freiburg that surrounds the cathedral and purchase some of the local produce. Our journey then continues through beautiful countryside and past the Feldberg, the highest mountain in Germany outside of the Alps. On route you can stop at a distillery where the famous Kirsch for the Black Forest Gateau and other fruit schnapps are produced.
Day 8: Titisee
Take the cable car to the top of the Feldberg and enjoy stunning panoramic views of mountain peaks in three different countries. Afterwards drive to lake Schluchsee, rent a boat on the river or just go for a walk and enjoy the beautiful scenery. If you still have time, visit the Cathedral of Sankt Blasien, or visit the Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus, the most famous brewery in the Black Forest.
Day 9: Titisee – Tengen
Today we leave the high mountain region and travel towards the Swiss border. On the way, stop in Donau-Eschingen and throw a coin over your shoulder into the source of the river Danube to make a wish come true. In the afternoon you can enjoy a steam engine ride through the wild romantic Wutach valley and see stunning viaducts, idyllic villages, bridges and Germany’s unique spiral tunnel.
Day 10: Tengen
Today we recommend you drive into Switzerland and visit the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen, the largest plain waterfall in Europe. In the afternoon relax at the campsite, go for a swim in the pool or explore the local countryside.
Day 11: Tengen – Orsingen
We now leave the Black forest region and move on to Lake Constance. Here we recommend a visit to the Island of Mainau, a 45-hectare Mediterranean garden bursting with flowers, palms and citrus plants. The baroque Mainau castle and the castle church are architectural highlights and there is an amazing butterfly house. The historic town of Stein am Rhein in Switzerland is also worth a visit.
Day 12: Orsingen – Bad Schussenried
On your way to Bad Schussenried, stop in Friedrichshafen and visit the Zeppelin Museum. We will spend the night at a brewery with a typical brewery restaurant and the German Beer Stein Museum.
Day 13 Bad Schussenried – Lindau
Today you can visit the “Federseemuseum” a world heritage site and you will have a chance to visit the Hymer Museum. If you still have time stop in Ravensburg, visit the city and buy a jigsaw puzzle.
Day 14: Lindau
We spend the last day of our tour in Lindau. Visit the beautiful old town and harbour and enjoy the Alpine views from one of the lake-front cafes. You could also use the opportunity to visit Bregenz in Austria and take the cable car to the top of the mountain where there are stunning views over lake Constance and the Alps.
This is our second tour with MandA Tours and just like our first we had a wonderful time. The attention to detail on places to visit was brilliant, as Michael and Audrey had done all the hard work it just left us to relax and enjoy. Our visit to the Hymer Plant and Museum along with the Wine tasting, Brewery and Stein tours was great as we had our own personal translator Michael with us.
We would like to thank Michael for rescuing us from our sat nav, and the laughter from all the new friends we made on this holiday.

Sheila & Michael: Breathtaking Black Forest 2019
This was our first experience of this type of holiday and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to travel in a motorhome. We felt more secure and enjoyed the benefits of travelling with an experienced tour company like “MandA Tours”. It was comforting to know someone was on hand for support when needed. We saw and visited places we probably would not have done on our own and it was a great way to meet people.
Sheila & Michael
Joyce & Terry: Breathtaking Black Forest 2018
This was our second holiday with Manda Tours and we enjoyed the stunning scenery and the good selection of interesting places to visit – we particularly enjoyed spending the day at the Black Forest Open Air Museum.
During the tour we had a mechanical problem and our tour leaders, Michael & Audrey – thanks to their knowledge of the region and language skills – helped us twice to get things sorted out!

Alice & Clive: Breathtaking Black Forest 2018
This was the second time we have travelled with you and we really like your concept of moving on every day / every 2nd day and having the freedom to choose each day what we want to do and what we want to visit.
Alice & Clive
Joy & Dennis, Breathtaking Black Forest 2017
Just a line to thank you personally for a most enjoyable “Breathtaking Black Forest” tour, which we really enjoyed. Good company, wonderful scenery and Black Forest Gateaux – what else could anyone possibly want?! Your planning and organisation was exceptional allowing us to relax and enjoy the experience.
We hope to join you again one day and look forward to meeting you again.

We enjoyed the tour and the campsites were excellent. You both did a perfect job and we would be happy to travel with you again in the full and certain knowledge that any issues would be quickly resolved – well done.

June & Peter, Breathtaking Black Forest 2017
We really enjoyed the holiday. The campsites, the route and itinary were all excellent. Your knowledge was helpful throughout the tour and the places you suggested to visit were well worth going to.
We would definitely use Manda Tours again in the future.
June & Peter
Ann & Tony: Breathtaking Black Forest 2018
We enjoyed the whole tour! Our favourite places were the pretty town of Stein am Rhein and the Rhine Falls of Schaffhausen. We are already looking forward to the “Majestic Rhine & Moselle Rivers” tour next year!
Ann & Tony
Stephanie & Nigel: Breathtaking Black Forest 2019
Michael & Audrey have a very friendly approachable style and often went out of their way to help and advise and speaking German helped on several occasions. We had the right number of motorhomes on our trip which made getting to know one another quick and easy. Coming on one of these tours is ideal for those looking for their first trip in a motorhome abroad or for those who enjoy the company of others who also enjoy their motorhoming. Thoroughly recommended.

Jackie & Geoff: Breathtaking Black Forest 2018
MandA Tours got it right! Driving in the Black forest was very enjoyable and there was plenty of wild life and interesting places. I am sure that on our own, and without your guidance, we would not have ventured into many of the small towns or visited the lakes and other points of interest.
Jackie & Geoff
Ena & Peter: Breathtaking Black Forest 2019
We were impressed with the tour, your leadership and responsiveness and the briefings in the evenings were beneficial. You succeeded in bonding the group which added to all the enjoyment. Well done both and thank you.
Ena & Peter
Margaret & Bernard: Breathtaking Black Forest 2019
The roadbook combined with the evening meetings was great and allowed us to pace ourselves and choose what we wanted to visit. We want to thank you both for your attention and humour and would definitely consider travelling with you again.

Jane & Alan: Breathtaking Black Forest 2018
A fantastic Motorhome tour, very different from our previous caravan tours. The short drives with one or two night stops took a little time to get used to, however Michael and Audrey made the tour very interesting and a great adventure! The opportunity to meet other motorhomers while exploring a wonderful country was a delight. We have already booked their Amazing Alpine Roads tour for next year!
Jane & Alan
Debbie & Malcolm: Breathtaking Black Forest 2022
This was our first time touring with Audrey + Michael who made us feel very welcome and comfortable, providing us guidance and support. A full roadmap was so important to us as it gave us independence to choose from the many options provided.
The Black Forest is an amazing place to visit with stunning scenery, so much to do and of course Black Forest gateau + ice-cream. We made new friends, had lots of fun and laughs and would certainly recommend Manda Tours to fellow motorhomers.
Debbie & Malcolm
Marilyn & Gary: Breathtaking Black Forest 2019
The tour was wonderful, and we saw places and things we wouldn’t have seen without you both – thank you. Already looking forward to the Italian tour next year!
Marilyn & Gary
Nicky & John: Breathtaking Black Forest 2018
The tour was excellent, and we were very grateful for the guidance you gave us on what to see and where to go. It was reassuring knowing that you were there to help if needed. The group was great fun and we enjoyed the camaraderie and knowing there were friends to return to at the campsite after a busy day sightseeing.
Nicky & John
Sue & Clive: Breathtaking Black Forest 2019
It was an excellent tour and as always you both go the extra mile – thank you. We particularly enjoyed the countryside and visiting the smaller towns in the Black Forest like Schiltach, Wolfach and Hausach and thoroughly enjoyed Lake Titisee.
Sue & Clive
Chris & Ian: Breathtaking Black Forest 2017
We have toured around countries before by ourselves and thought we had seen a lot, but touring with MandA Tours made the experience so much better.
We got to know the country, the people and their way of life much better and saw things which we otherwise would have missed.
Thank you MandA for the experience.
Chris & Ian
Helen & Bill: Breathtaking Black Forest 2019
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip in the company of fellow motorhomers. We really liked the opportunity to socialise with other like-minded people whilst still having the independence to visit the sights of our choice along the way. We were very happy that we were able to tour with our dog and enjoyed visiting the POIs recommended in the roadbook, many of which we would never have visited without Michael’s knowledge. It was a great trip, on which we learned a lot more about making the most of our motorhome and, more importantly, made some wonderful friends.
Helen & Bill
Tricia & Alan, Breathtaking Black Forest 2017
Thank you for a very enjoyable trip. We saw some beautiful scenery, visited a variety of places and met some lovely people. The detailed road book was excellent. Your local knowledge took us to places we wouldn’t have found ourselves! We can only imagine the hard work that goes into researching and creating the tours to make them interesting and successful. Your personal enthusiasm and commitment certainly added to our enjoyment of the 2 weeks.
We will definitely consider another trip.
Tricia & Alan
Jen & John: Breathtaking Black Forest 2018
We enjoyed the whole tour and made new friends. Can’t wait for next year’s tour to the Rhine and Moselle!

Lynda, Terry & Rosie: Breathtaking Black Forest 2018
We had an excellent holiday. The support and advice from Audrey and Michael was outstanding and it was great travelling with others, but we also enjoyed having plenty of flexibility to do what we wanted. During the tour there was a really good mix of town, country and cultural activities. We especially enjoyed the welcome dinner, the wine & schnapps tasting and the visit to the Hymer plant.
Lynda, Terry & Rosie
Gill & David: Breathtaking Black Forest 2017
The campsites were good, the highlights, including the visit to the Hymer Plant and the steam train ride were excellent and we met some great people. The friendliness of our tour guide, the planning and organisation of the tour and his knowledge of the region took all the stress out of a touring holiday.
Gill & David
Tony, Wendy & Richard: Breathtaking Black Forest 2022
Great hosts, nothing too much trouble, any problems Michael always goes the extra mile to resolve, and for that a big thank you.
The Black Forest was picturesque, lovely towns along the way, excellently planned routes and campsites with excellent facilities.
The road book given prior to the tour are fully detailed with places of interest to visit on route, should you so wish. Informal evening meeting to discuss routes and places of interest is excellent!!!
Tony, Wendy & Richard
Dianne & Geoffrey: Breathtaking Black Forest 2017
Thank you for a great holiday. We enjoyed driving in the Black Forest – the route and the campsites were good and the availability, friendliness and knowledge of our tour guide were excellent. If we travel to Europe again we would definitely use Manda Tours again.
Dianne & Geoffrey
Jacqui & Richard: Breathtaking Black Forest 2019
Once again, a huge thank you Audrey and Michael for an excellent tour. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole tour. We thought the Black Forest area was particularly beautiful and exceeded our expectations. One of the many highlights was the Rhine Falls of Schaffhausen in Switzerland and being able to swim in the Rhine at Stein am Rhein! We loved the visit to the Hymer Plant and museum (but we are biased)!
Thank you for all your hard work and for making our holiday so special.
Jacqui & Richard
Vicki, Mike, Poppy & Duddley: Breathtaking Black Forest 2019
We loved the sights in the Black Forest, the mountain scenery and little villages. We particularly enjoyed Lake Titisee and the campsite there – there was so much to explore.
Vicki, Mike, Poppy & Duddley
Susan, Peter & Dora Breathtaking Black Forest 2022
We have been on many tours with Audrey and Michael and are going with them to Andalusia in November of this year.
Still not sure which tour(s) we will book next year, perhaps we will repeat the Picturesque Provence tour which we thoroughly enjoyed.
Susan, Peter & Dora
Sue & Steve: Breathtaking Black Forest 2018
We loved everything about the tour and had a great time. We enjoyed the company of the other participants and I think this is also one of the reasons why people like coming on escorted tours – to meet other like-minded people and have get togethers – it helps the shy to mix!
Sue & Steve
