Popular Nordic Tours to Denmark and Norway

Motorhome in the Dunes of Normandie

Thursday was our first day back in the office after returning from the Western Motorhome Show in Malvern. The show was very successful, and we met many of our existing customers and spoke to many people who showed a great interest in our tours. Our first job after arriving home was to send out the booking confirmations to everybody who booked a tour at the show and then to write this short newsletter.

On our way to Malvern we stopped at some historic places in Belgium and Northern France, one of which one was the Christmas Truce 1914 Memorial located in the fields between Lille and Ypres. The small memorial is surrounded by several British and Commonwealth military cemeteries, and the visit there was a very moving experience for both of us. We stopped there because we are interested in history and had previously visited Ypres to see the last post and also the American Mardasson Memorial and the excellent War Museum about the battle of the bulge in Bastogne. These are also places, we recommend to our customers as stopover on the way back from our “Majestic Rhine & Moselle Rivers” tour, which ends in Luxembourg. Before crossing the channel, we stayed at a campsite direction Normandie located in the dunes (see photo above).

The show was, as usual, the first opportunity to present next year’s programme personally. We typically get four waves of bookings during the year. Existing customers normally book during the first one after we have sent out the new programme in the second quarter of the year. The second and third waves are at or after the shows in Malvern and the NEC in October. The last wave is usually at the end of the year, when customers talk with family and friends about their plans for next year to make sure there are no date clashes, and of course because they want to take advantage of the Early Bird Discount.

During the Western Motorhome Show many visitors showed a lot of interest in our two Nordic tours “Discover Denmark” and “Stunning Norway” and we also received bookings at the show for these tours. For many of you this might not be the typical countries to think about when planning your holidays, but it is a great time to visit with ideal temperatures for travelling, no school holidays, and the Waterfalls in Norway are usually at their most impressive.

After a couple of days in the office we will be heading south next week to the start of our “Amazing Alpine Roads” tour. On our way down to the start of the tour, we will inspect some new campsites and most importantly also a vineyard, where we will have a wine tasting with the group during our “Germany’s Romantic Road” tour in July next year. It is a tough job, but someone has to do it 😊.

If you could not make it to Malvern, your next opportunity to meet us personally is at the Motorhome & Caravan Show at the NEC in Birmingham which takes place from 17th – 22nd October 2023. Our stand is located in hall 9, stand number 9.32.
